Two programmes define how we work: standalone microgrids for communities the national grid hasn't reached, and shared local generation for communities that want to own their power together.
Across Uganda's lake regions, entire island communities live beyond the reach of the national grid. We design and deliver standalone solar-plus-storage microgrids sized to these communities — power for homes, schools, health posts, and the small businesses that depend on refrigeration, lighting, and connectivity.
Each installation is engineered for the realities of an island site: limited logistics access, no grid backup to fall back on, and a duty to keep running with minimal ongoing maintenance. Solar generation paired with battery storage removes the dependence on fuel deliveries that diesel generation would otherwise require.
We work through the same discipline as our larger developments — site assessment, engineering, construction, and a plan for who operates and maintains the system once it's energised — scaled to what an island microgrid actually needs.
We support groups of households, businesses, and public bodies that want to generate and share renewable power locally — structuring shared ownership of local solar generation so the benefits of the energy transition accrue directly to the people and places producing it.
This work sits alongside our utility-scale development: the same engineering and permitting discipline, applied at the scale of a neighbourhood or a municipality, with local generation reducing both transmission losses and dependence on the wider grid.
